A Suit That Fits
When preparing for an interview, looking your best holds just as much, if not more, importance as possessing the right skills. We were delighted to welcome A Suit That Fits to share their extraordinary insight into how to look your best for an interview and stand out for the right reasons.

A Suit That Fits is the world's first online tailor. It was established by 2 graduates and has since been providing tailored suits for 5 years.

The speaker, who is a professional tailor, shared his knowledge on how to make a positive impact at an interview through personal appearance. After demonstrating the difference between looking amateur and professional in a suit, he then guided us through the different fit and proportion sizes. The speaker gave us a unique insight into the science behind looking good, which included the stripe theory, patterns and colour theory.

The evening ended with an insightful question and answer session and every member received a 50 pound voucher to put towards a suit from www.asuitthatfits.com

"Something About The Beatles" Mike Southon Come to Brunel!
Brunel Entrepreneurs had the privilege of watching Mike Southon give an extremely energetic and inspiring presentation about how to be successful as an entrepreneur. Mike Southon took us on a journey, using the The Beatles as an example, to explain how to overcome the challenges we will face along the way.
Mike started off with a brief introduction of himself as a highly successful entrepreneur who has also worked with Goldmans Sachs, Accenture and Glaxo Smith Klein. Known as the beermat entrepreneur, he is one of UK's best motivational speakers as well as a Financial Times Columnist.
He began the presentation with a brief overview of the seven year cycle of life, within which he mentioned the years of being 21 to 28 is when we should try as many things as possible, i.e. selling, delivery and production. Throughout, Mike emphasized the importance of trying to build your wealth, as opposed to aiming to increase revenue. He cleverly highlighted critical moments in the history of The Beatles, which highlighted the same issues entrepreneurs would face, such as conflict within the team, and explained how these can be successfully overcome.
Mikes's amazing ability to play air guitar was a hit with the audience and he ended the presentation with a rockstar finale. After a few questions and answers, everyone enjoyed the complimentary buffet, alongside networking, as the night came to an end.

David Riley, Entrepreneur in Residence
We had our very own Entrepreneur-in-Residence David Riley to share his experiences in the business world, giving a few tips to our fellow students on becoming an entrepreneur. The evening started off with a brief introduction to the event by Andy, followed by a short speech by Pauline before David Riley arrived on stage. David Riley started off with his childhood and a brief background of his family before moving on to share his first failure as an entrepreneur. Following his established recruitment company success, he sold off for a fortune to a public limited company. From his early life as an entrepreneur, David shared his words of wisdom with a few funny anecdotes and quick pointers in becoming an entrepreneur. By the end of the speech there were quite a few questions asked from the audience, which David Riley delightfully answered. To put an end to good evening, we had a raffle draw where the winners won free Nandos stamped loyalty cards.
